Choosing the Right Toothpaste

Choosing the Right Toothpaste

The right toothpaste can make a world of difference in your oral care routine!

Everyone knows just how important brushing your teeth is. Taking proper care of your teeth is essential for a healthy living style as it will prevent tooth decays, cavities, gum disease, and other unhealthy things happening inside your mouth. One thing you know about brushing your teeth is that you will need toothpaste to do so, but with so many options available to choose from in the dental hygiene aisle, it can be difficult to know which toothpaste is the right one to use. Well, if you do not know what toothpaste to choose, here is how you can figure that out.

Toothpaste with Fluoride

Often, selecting toothpaste with fluoride in it is the right choice for you. Fluoride is often used in toothpaste because it helps strengthen your tooth enamel and also prevents tooth decay. It helps to renew the minerals your teeth and is perfect for weak teeth that are likely to crack, break, chip, or potentially get cavities. However, fluoride is not always the right choice for everyone. For kids who teeth are just starting to grow, they should avoid toothpaste with fluoride in it for at least a couple of years. This is only because toothpaste with fluoride is meant for cleaning only and not to be swallowed, which small children have a bad habit of doing when they are just learning how to brush their teeth.

Whitening Toothpaste

Another popular choice for toothpaste is whitening toothpaste. Since white teeth are ideal to have, most people purchase whitening toothpaste expecting it to be the most beneficial. Whitening toothpaste can help with this goal, as they help to break up stains on the surface of your teeth and some brands even leave a chemical called blue covarine that sticks to your teeth and makes them look whiter. They do not have the same effect though as a professional teeth whitening would as they can only truly clean the surface of your teeth.

Sensitive Gums

If you have hypersensitive gums and teeth, then there is toothpaste for you. This hypersensitivity often occurs with aging and can help be remedied by the right toothpaste. This toothpaste can help relieve the pain that is caused by the thinning of gums that reveal the root of teeth which causes the pain that is being experienced. This also helps allow you to enjoy colder treats and substances that are normally difficult to enjoy due to the sensitivity of your teeth and gums.
