Cleaning Your Tongue is the Key to Beating Bad Breath

Cleaning Your Tongue is the Key to Beating Bad Breath

As it turns outs, cleaning your tongue is the key to beating bad breath.

Even when you brush your teeth two times a day, you might still have bad breath. Flossing and using mouthwash doesn’t seem to make much of a difference either. The problem could be with your tongue. As it turns outs, cleaning your tongue is the key to beating bad breath.

How to Clean It

When you’re done brushing your teeth, don’t put your toothbrush down. Here’s what you should do instead: give it a good rinse and then start using it to brush off your tongue. Germs and pieces of food will get stuck to your tongue even if you can’t feel anything settling on it. Some toothpaste should help you clear this up, though. Place the toothbrush at the back of your tongue and move your way up back towards the front of your mouth. Once you’re done, don’t forget to rinse off.

Tongue Scrapers

Another method is to use tongue scrapers. These scrapers will do a much better job cleaning up your tongue than the toothbrush alone can achieve. It’s made of plastic and can dig into the mucus lining on your tongue without causing any pain. If you do feel some pain, it means you’re pushing too hard. Ease up the pressure and remember to rinse it off with some warm water before using it again. Focus your efforts on the middle of your tongue, where most of the bacteria will gather.

Frequency

Whenever you try to improve your oral health, there’s always a pressing question. That question tends to be “how much is too much?” In other words, how often should you clean your tongue? Basically, work it in your oral and dental health routine. After you brush and floss, pay attention to your tongue, too. You can do this when you get up in the morning and when it’s time to go to sleep at night. You might experience dry mouth or a strange, unpleasant taste throughout the day. Getting rid of these conditions is easy to do – just get up and clean your tongue.
