Switch Your Morning Cup of Coffee with Green Tea for Healthier Teeth

Green Tea

Green tea is a great option for a healthier way to get your morning jolt!

Are you one of those people who can’t function in the morning without a cup of coffee? Coffee has various recognized health benefits (when consumed in moderation), but one of its more obvious drawbacks is the way it stains your teeth. If you’re looking for a healthier way to get your boost in the morning, consider switching to green tea! Not only is green tea a good way to start the day, it can actually to healthier teeth and better oral health – here are five reasons why.

1. Preventing Cavities

Green tea controls your bacteria levels and lowers the acidity of plaque and saliva. While studies are still being conducted and no conclusions have been reached, the early returns suggest that drinking green tea could help prevent cavities, tooth decay, and reduce the incidence of gum bleeding.

2. Gum Health

Green tea has been shown to help fight and control inflammation, and these powers seem to help control gum disease as well. Japanese studies have shown that those who drink green tea on a regular basis have healthier gums than those who don’t, and a German study using candies with green tea extracts drew similar conclusions.

3. Less Tooth Loss

When a substance can help prevent cavities and gum disease, it’s only natural to conclude that tooth loss is reduced as well. In fact, studies showed that those who drink one or more cups of green tea every day were more likely to keep their natural teeth than those who didn’t!

4. Controlling Cancer

Green tea contains antioxidants which help protect cells against damage and prevents the growth of cancerous tumors. At the University of Texas, extracts from green tea were given to test subjects with pre-cancerous lesions in their mouths – the conclusion was that the growth of these lesions into oral cancer was slowed.

5. Fresher Breath

It has also been suggested that green tea can help make your breath fresher due to its ability to kill the bacteria that makes it stink. In fact, studies have shown that it outperforms mints and chewing gum in this regard!
