Keeping Your Smile White

Keeping Your Smile White

Everyone is in search of a whiter smile. If you’re unhappy with the color of your teeth, there are plenty of ways to whiten your pearly whites

Everyone is in search of a whiter smile. If you’re unhappy with the color of your teeth, there are plenty of ways to whiten your pearly whites. The best way to keep your teeth white is to maintain a healthy oral care routine, including brushing, flossing, and mouthwash three times every day. You can also have your teeth whitened through a cosmetic procedure by your dentist. Once you have reached your desired whiteness, here are some simple ways to maintain it!

Choose a Good Whitening Toothpaste

There are so many different types of products on the market aimed at freshening breath and improving enamel and gum health. There are also many different whitening products, including whitening toothpaste and mouthwashes. The next time you’re in your dentist’s office for your twice-a-year cleaning, ask if they can recommend a brand that you should look for. After your cleaning, all plaque and tartar will be gone so it is the perfect time to put those whitening ingredients to work!

Eat Plenty of Fruits and Veggies

Another way to keep your smile white is to eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables. It’s not always practical to carry a travel toothbrush and toothpaste with you to use after every meal, but by eating raw fruits and veggies you can actually help to clean off your teeth a bit. Apples and celery are particularly healthy for getting any wayward bits of food off. Just remember to brush and floss as soon as you can!

Protect Your Enamel

When you’re talking about oral health, one of the biggest components should be taking care of your tooth enamel. Unfortunately, no matter what you do, enamel does start to weaken over time. It’s just part of the aging process. If you don’t care for it, however, your enamel can break down even faster. Sugary foods and drinks and anything acidic can hasten this process as well. Using fluoride can help to strengthen enamel. Once it’s gone it can’t come back, so using a fluoridated toothpaste and mouthwash can help to strengthen your enamel and make it last as long as possible.
