What to Do When You Have Nonstop Gum Pain

Pain anywhere in your mouth can be distracting and difficult to deal with.

Any time something goes wrong in your mouth, you’ll know. Pain anywhere in your mouth can be distracting and difficult to deal with. Luckily, we have some remedies for you to try when you have nonstop gum pain.

Compresses

Much like when you’re trying to soothe a toothache, you can use a compress on your gum. Easing gum pain will either need something warm or something cold. In this case, you could use a compress. Whichever temperature you use, don’t hold it directly against your gums, because it might make your condition worse. Blood flow is what you’re after since that can help improve circulation and help the pain subside. Then use an ice pack or something similar to help make the swelling go down.

Salt Water

You’ve always heard that salt water is another useful remedy. Well, we can tell you that’s true. Add some salt to a glass full of room temperature water. The rinse your mouth as if you were using mouthwash at least twice a day. Doing this should help make the swelling and the pain go away. You can clean away anything stuck in your teeth and kill bacteria too!

Turmeric

Mix up some turmeric with water and turn it into a toothpaste-like substance. Use your finger the spread it on your affected gums and then leave it alone for a few minutes before you rinse. An antioxidant called curcumin can help you feel better.

Tea Bags

Drop a tea bag of your choice into some boiling water. Allow it to steep. Then pull it out and let it cool off before you use it. Hold the tea bag against your sore gums, and let the tannic acid relieve any remaining gum pain you might still have. Although you might prefer to simply drink the tea, by doing this you won’t risk leaving unsightly stains on your teeth.

Other Ideas and Tips

Don’t forget to brush your teeth often and carefully. Peppermint and clove oil can also help. Brushing too hard is a bad idea, so avoid doing that and switch your toothbrushes out every few months. Make sure you stay hydrated and see your dentist every so often too.
