Swishing warm salt water around in your mouth can help to disinfect your mouth. This may get rid of whatever bacteria is causing the toothache. The warmth of the water can help soothe some of the soreness. You can also achieve similar results by swishing hydrogen peroxide.

Yogurt

Believe it or not, Greek yogurt might actually be able to soothe a toothache. The yogurt contains healthy bacteria that fight against pain. Just be careful of the sugar content of the yogurt because that can actually make a toothache worse.

Cold Compress

Applying a cold compress or ice pack to your jaw in the area of the toothache may help reduce swelling, which can slightly alleviate the toothache. If you’re experiencing swelling, an over the counter anti-inflammatory medication may also help.

Essential Oils

If you have any sort of ailment, there’s probably an essential oil remedy for it, and a toothache is no exception. Certain oils such as eucalyptus, nutmeg, peppermint, and clove have pain-relieving properties. Dilute one of or a combination of these oils and use a cotton swab to apply to the affected area as needed.

Flossing

Flossing regularly is just a small part of a healthy oral care routine. If you have a toothache, flossing may be able to help that too! If the aching is caused by a bit of food debris that has become lodged between your teeth, you can use floss to pop it our and relieve some of the soreness.
